Waygate Krautkramer Railroad Wheel Inspection System (wheel)

The Waygate Technologies Krautkramer Railroad Wheel Inspection System, a Baker Hughes business product (formerly GE Inspection Technologies), is a cost effective ultrasonic solution for the inspection of new and re-profiled rail wheels. The use of an ultrasonic phased array transducer in a handheld magnetically attachable holder eliminates costly mechanical wheel handling equipment and assures complete coverage. The test can be performed with a single rotation of the wheel. Data from each inspection is recorded and displayed for operator interpretation. Inspection time for each wheel is one minute including setup time. Serial number entry for each wheel creates a permanent record of the test results complying with requirements.

The system can also interface with existing computer networks to provide documented inspections for all wheels in your facility. If this is not required, standalone systems can record and retrieve inspection data for individual wheels, providing documented inspection details. All systems provide up to 90% tread inspection with increased defect detectability.
