    Description


    Increase the number of inspections you complete each day with Solid Axle Mechanized Testers. These testers can inspect an entire axle in typically less than five minutes, depending on ultrasonic requirements. Their grouping functionality removes non-relevant portions of A-scans from the display, ensuring you don't waste time collecting unnecessary information.

    The SAMT mechanics with an integrated encoder and specific UT probes is specially designed to interact with the Mentor UT instrument, creating a comprehensive system:

    • Full A-Scan recording to internal memory (export via USB possible). 
    • Circumferential resolution as an editable instrument setting (≥ 1°).
    • Mentor UT grouping functionality allows to eliminate nonrelevant portions of Scan from the display. 
    • Storage of full settings files for different axle designs in either instruments memory or on USB devices. 
    • Result documentation via integrated reporting function of the Mentor UT. 
    • Mentor Create allows to generate tailored inspection workflows per axle design

    Modern Technology (Phased Array UT)

    SAMT is based on phased array ultrasonic technology, bringing a significant upgrade compared to traditional conventional UT methods. 

    Full Inspection Record & Data Traceability

    The system includes an encoder, allowing the generation of a C Scan for complete inspection documentation and post inspection analysis.

    Simple and Efficient Execution

    Only the bearing cap needs to be removed to access the axle face—no major disassembly required.

    Inspection Without Removing Wagons From Service 

    Axles can be inspected while the wagons remain in composition. There is no need to move the wagons to the workshop, providing major operational efficiencies.

    Optimized User Experience

    The Mentor UT can be customized for this specific application, resulting in a very user friendly and streamlined workflow.

    Magnetic coupling within the center bore of the axle via an exchangeable cone. Manual probe rotation over approximately 370°. Position related data recording thanks to an integrated encoder. Maximal circumferential resolution is 1 (one) degree.

    Phased-Array transducer with 32 or 16 elements in 2 or 4 MHz with a 0° wedge. Both can be replaced by the user.
