The Tramex Concrete Moisture Encounter CME5 is the advanced version of the CME4 and functions as a non-destructive analog moisture meter specifically designed for assessing the moisture content in concrete floors and slabs. It provides immediate and accurate quantitative moisture readings, using Gravimetric testing as a reference baseline. This device measures moisture to a depth of around 20mm (3/4") into the concrete slab.
The CME5 concrete moisture meter is also capable of providing readings for gypsum floor screeds and comparative measurements, making it suitable for conducting concrete moisture tests in accordance with ASTM F2659.
The CME5's capabilities can be enhanced with the optional Concrete Moisture Probe, allowing for in-situ quantitative moisture measurement within concrete to a depth of up to 4 inches (100mm). Additionally, the CME5 is included in several concrete moisture testing kits.
Moisture Mapping & Data Documentation
Concrete moisture test results can be visualized using the Tramex Meters App, which allows you to create moisture maps, reports, and charts for easy sharing. Bluetooth connectivity to mobile devices enables you to GeoTag test results and effortlessly create, save, and share photos.
CME4 is now CME5
The CME5 concrete moisture meter is the upgraded version of the highly regarded and reliable Concrete Moisture Encounter 4 (CME4), a device that has been a preferred choice among concrete moisture professionals for many years.
Concrete Moisture Meter Design
The Tramex Concrete Moisture Encounter CME5 is designed to detect and assess moisture levels within slabs or screeds without causing any damage. It achieves this by measuring the electrical impedance through a low-frequency electronic signal sent into the material via electrodes at the instrument's base. The signal's strength changes in direct relation to the moisture content within the material. The CME5 meter calculates this signal's strength and converts it into a moisture content value for concrete slabs and provides a comparative value for other cementitious floor screeds, displaying the results on a large, easy-to-read analog dial.
Concrete Moisture Meter - Operating procedure
To conduct tests with the Tramex Concrete Moisture Encounter CME5, first remove any dust from a smooth concrete area and the electrodes. Turn on the CME5 concrete moisture meter, and press it firmly onto the surface, ensuring the spring-loaded, signal-enhancing contacts on the base are fully compressed. The moisture content can then be read from the clear analog dial. The device is calibrated to provide percentage moisture content readings specifically for clean, bare, dust-free concrete floor slabs, with a penetration depth of approximately ¾ inch (20 mm). Readings taken on concrete slabs covered with paint, coatings, adhesives, or other surface materials should be considered qualitative or comparative, rather than quantitative.
