The V48BD infrared (IR) viewing window features a 4" x 8" viewing pane and incorporates our patented composite safety optic along with the BLASTDOWN® pressure relief system for arc-flash protection. This combination offers exceptional safety and flexibility.
The next-generation composite polymer optic used in the ViPIRS V48BD is designed to work seamlessly with the latest thermal imaging technology, offering an unparalleled field of view and image clarity through its mesh-reinforced polymer composite. Traditionally, infrared viewing panes with transmissive polymers needed metallic mesh on one or both sides of the polymer sheet to meet safety standards. However, this dual mesh setup often led to issues with image clarity and created a vignetting effect due to poor mesh alignment and angled imaging.
Unlike conventional IR windows that use 'arc containment' for protection, the ViPIRS range features a unique BLASTDOWN® arc-flash pressure relief system. Instead of trying to contain the intense overpressures resulting from an electric arc flash, the ViPIRS BLASTDOWN® system directs the energy through specialized vents located at the base of the frame.
The ViPIRS V48BD composite optic incorporates a single mesh embedded within the polymer, resulting in a durable infrared transmissive optic that meets the latest codes and standards, while eliminating problems related to mesh alignment and image distortion. Featuring a smooth surface on both sides, the V48BD is easy to clean and maintain, ensuring optimal image quality and a wide field of view.
