Waygate Technologies Krautkramer MSW-QC Wedges, Baker Hughes business products (formerly GE Inspection Technologies), are for use in flaw detection with MSW-QC Angle Beam Transducers. MSW-QC wedges are specified for aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel. For applications in small spaces, wedges with reduced length are available. The use of wedges protects the transducer from abrasive or oddly-shaped surfaces.
MSW-QC Wedges are available in sizes of 0.25", 0.375", and 0.5" with shear angles of 30°, 35°, 45°, 60°, 70°, 80°, and 90°. Availability of varying angles allows the inspector to properly steer sound to the area in question as well as achieve the appropriate refraction for the material type. The incident angle on a wedge is determined by the material being tested. Duty cycle for these Wedges is 400°F, with the maximum contact time being 10 seconds.
Custom wedge angles and curvatures can be special ordered.
