Ofil recognized that rail systems needed a way to detect corona and arcing partial discharges as tolerance for electrical faults has decreased. DayCor® Rail is a system designed to identify corona discharges and existing failure processes so they can be traced and eliminated.
Using patented DayCor® technology, DayCor® Rail offers both outstanding sensitivity to Ultraviolet (UV) signals and the ability to capture existing signals, their emissions and emitting objects at high speeds. Results are recorded, stored and displayed in reports in HD video with appended details including GPS locations, ambient conditions and the count of total corona events.
SUPERIOR CORONA DETECTION
DayCor® Rail has a sensitivity to UV of 1pC at least from a distance of 10 meters and 7.7dBμV (RIV) @ 1MHz which allows it to detect distant corona discharges. DayCor® Rail's fast processing camera means rail can be moving at speeds up to 300 km/h without degradation of performance. Recorded images reveal corona flecks from their emitting objects without smears or blurring.
DayCor® Rail is an autonomous standalone system that you turn on before departure and turn off upon arriving at the final destination. There is no requirement to work with the device while in transit.

RECORDING OF CORONA
During a trip, the DayCor® Rail will record and store video of discovered corona. The unit captures and stores video and metadata of problem areas that require further investigation.

All detected corona events are processed through Ofil's CoronaCatch application. CoronaCatch separates corona events from non-corona events and attaches GPS, ambient conditions and corona severity measurements.
