Release agent is applied to mounting press molds to prevent adhesion of mounting media. 20-8186 release agent is the preferred type for use with mounting presses. The 4 ounce bottle (20-8186-004) comes with an applicator swab, simply apply after each shift to keep media from sticking to mold parts. Powdered mold release is effective though less convenient to apply, we do not recommend spray silicone mold release on mounting presses.

Usage Recommendations:

• Apply a moderate coating of release agent to the mold before each mount.
  
• EPDM molds naturally degrade over time and samples become more difficult to remove. Multiple coats of release agent can be used to extend the lifetime.
