Optical Emission Spectrometry (OES) is a sophisticated analysis technique for determining the elemental makeup of an alloy test piece. As an NDT technique, OES does not damage the test piece under normal circumstances.
Berg Engineering is proud to bring you exclusive US sales, service, and support for Bruker's full line of optical emission spectrometers. These devices provide precise elemental analysis and PMI (positive materials identification) with an incredibly fast response time.
How It Works
An optical emission spectrometer bounces light off the test piece. The diffracted light is split into spectral emission lines. The resulting pattern is analyzed by the spectrometer, software, and/or operator to determine the elemental composition of the material. This technique can provide fast, precise elemental analysis and PMI (positive materials identification) for all metal alloys typically found in manufacturing, engineering, and research environments.
Optical emission spectrometry is used extensively in all fields that require elemental analysis of metals, including detection of trace elements such as oxygen or nitrogen. Applications include (but are not limited to):
Quality control in warehousing (incoming and outgoing)
Highly mobile analysis in power and refining markets
The mechanical industry
Founded in 1960, Bruker is the world leader in high-value analytical technologies including Positive Material Identification, OES, LIBS and XRF. Bruker is a leader in R&D and is frequently innovating and improving upon its product base.
