GE Panametrics TransPort PT878 Flow Meter

GE Panametrics TransPort PT878 Flow Meter Code: pt-878

The TransPort PT878 flowmeter packs big features into a compact, light package. Its built-in datalogger can store more than 100,000 data points and up to 32 sets of site location parameters. You can add an optional built-in ultrasonic thickness gage. Temperature transducers are available for measuring energy flow rate. The rechargeable battery provides six to eight hours of continuous remote operation. The unit has a built-in infrared port to transfer datalog, site and other files to your PC. A rugged, sealed enclosure provides IP67 submersibility to protect the PT878 if it should accidentally fall into water.

The PT878 is one of the most powerful portable liquid flowmeters available. It measures flow from outside plastic, metal or concrete-lined pipes nonintrusively, so there’s no pressure drop, leaks or contamination. Patented correlation algorithms resolve transit-time signals like no other flowmeter and allow the PT878 to measure flow in ultrapure to extremely dirty liquids such as raw sewage and slurries.

The PT878 flowmeter is available with English only or with English and a second language. Languages available: Dutch, Castilian, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, South America Spanish, Swedish.

Accurate with Two-Phase and Perfectly Clean Liquids

The TransPort PT878 Ultrasonic Flow Meter's patented Correlation Transit-Time™ digital signal processing (DSP) technique greatly increases its signal-to-noise ratio for accurate, drift-free flow measurement in liquids that contain a second phase of entrained solids or gas bubbles. The Panametrics PT878 operates in these and other difficult applications where conventional transit time flow meters fail.

The GE Panametrics TransPort PT878 also accurately measures flow rate in perfectly clean liquids containing no "scatterers," where Doppler flow meters cannot work. Suited for all standard transit time applications, the TransPort PT878 Ultrasonic Flow Meter can be used in many other applications that would prevent other transit time flow meters from working.

Quick and Easy to Use

It's possible to make your first flow measurement within minutes of opening the box — the GE Panametrics TransPort is that easy to use. Simply input the site parameters, clamp the ultrasonic flow transducers onto the pipe, adjust the spacing, and you're under way. No ancillary equipment is needed, and there's no need to break into the pipeline. An experienced user can make scores of different measurements in a single day. The TransPort PT878 is ideal for all kinds of flow survey work.

Flow Accuracy (Velocity)
  • For pipes 6 in (150 mm) and smaller: ±2% to 5% of reading typical
  • For pipes over 6 in (150 mm): ±1% to 2% of reading typical
Accuracy depends on pipe size and other factors.

downstream of straight pipe run) and flow velocity greater
than 5 ft/s (1.5 m/s). Pipes 2 inches (50 mm) or less require
a minimum of 10 ft (3 m) of continuous straight run
without flanges, welds or coupling joints.
